Etimología del Género: Cephalanthera=del griego kephale,-es, cabeza y del latín anthera.-ae, florido. Por la forma de la antera que es redondeada.

Etimología de la Especie: longifolia=del latín longus,-i, largo y del latín folium,-ii, hoja; que tiene hojas alargadas.
